Since we moved we've been keeping the cats separated. Azrael is notorious for being an asshole to other small furry purring creatures such as himself. We let them see each other a small handful of times and it resulted in RAEG. Well not rage but definitely Azrael smacking Diana up a bit. So for a while now they've been kept apart but they KNOW each other's there. Azrael will often sniff around and meow at Diana's doors (and she'll sometimes reach out and gently bitchslap him in the face)
So last night we drunkenly thought "LET'S SEE HOW THEY DO NOW" so Will brought Azrael to Diana's room and we set them on the bed together... and...
...
Nothing. Azrael just lays there. No poofy. No hissing. Just lays there, occasionally looking over at her. Diana is a bit on edge of course, considering their previous encounters so she's hunched up and hissing but he's not really caring.
So we let them go and I went to pass out on the couch while Will played some Halo. The cats wandered around, keeping a distance. Diana was much more interested in keeping away and Azrael occasionally got close to her but did nothing but watch her, meow a bit. Nothing poofy, nothing threatening. She still wasn't entirely okay with him.
Then we went to bed and decided to let them out at the same time for the rest of the night. Within moments of us in bed we hear CRASH BANG MROOOWOOWOWOWOW so Will goes to grab Azrael. Luckily he hadn't attacked her, just chased her and did some little kitty dominance-dancing with her. But she was NOT okay with that. Will found them in my bathtub (shower curtain pulled down completely) inches away from each other MROOOWing.
So we kept them separated again for the night, but we let them out this morning. There was a slight little chase scene but nothing big. Otherwise Azrael is just casually playing in the livingroom while Diana stays curled up in the kitchen.
This is seriously boggling my mind, lol... Azrael's just being so cool about it. It's like he's all "you know what, whatever. We're gonna have to live with each other and I'm tired of being locked up every other day so let's just deal with each other, okay?" and Diana's like "ASSHOLE THE FIRST FEW TIMES WE MET YOU WERE A DICK, FUCK YOU" but she'll come around.
... So yay! Unnecessarily long entry talking about cats!
tl;dr version: Cats did not get along. Now they seem to be getting to that, slowly but surely. And I'm all "shit son, that's awesome"
