It's been leaking for months but the mold is new. It smells awful. Maybe I'm extra sensitive to it (Will doesn't notice it as much) but even going in there makes me nauseous. I've submitted what feels like a dozen maintenance requests. They've come out twice, saying they fixed stuff upstairs (the leak happens when the neighbors shower)... and it's done nothing. Plus they've not fixed that grossness. The last time he was here was pre-mold and he sprayed for mold and then... it still happened. Good spray, bro.
Submitted another stronger-worded request today. Mentioned the mold and that if they STILL can't fix this shit we're leaving. This crap is not worth our health being at risk (even if the only health hazard is me feeling sick every time I'm in there)... we're already planning on moving out when the lease is up though that's more due to us needing more space and another roommate to split costs with. Addison living here isn't bad but he doesn't contribute financially and we're starting to feel the strain.
Anyway.
This isn't the first shower ceiling leak here. When we first moved in it was the OTHER bathroom doing this when the neighbors (different neighbors then... the ones that left in the middle of the night and then Homeland Security asked me about them. awkwaaard)... the maintenance was a bit more helpful then. Came in almost immediately every time I called, fixed the upstairs problems, and also fixed the ceiling downstairs.
Now? It takes a fucking act of GOD to get them here and they've done nothing about the ceiling. I know part of why... last time he was here he was all "yeah if this next fix upstairs doesn't work it'll mean cutting open walls and such and fixing whatever's busted inside"... and that's a lot of work and money spent. They want to avoid that as long as possible, I get it.
But this is getting ridiculous. An apartment I used to love is becoming awful and I'm finding myself mentally counting down to February when we're planning on moving out and into a house. I worry about these same sorts of things happening, sure, but hopefully whoever we're renting from then will be better about it. Plus we don't have to worry about an upstairs neighbor causing leaks every time they shower at 4:30 in the morning... :P
So, yeah. Frustrated about this. We have two showers but this is the one I keep my chair in, it's the one with a removable showerhead, etc... it's the easiest one to comfortably bathe in but the smell... god, the smell. Makes me use more soap than necessary just to cover it up long enough to properly bathe. I hate that... ideally showers and baths are relaxing and cleansing for me. It's a very uniquely good headspace experience but a nasty-ass ceiling kind of ruins the experience. :P
We'll see how this goes. Fingers crossed... because leaving early would be expensive and the point of moving is to SAVE money so I want us to have a decent time here until February.
