It's been a confusing few days, pain-wise. NO rain in the forecast until Monday, but it's rained a bit every single day since Thursday. On the bright side, my hips (and back and wrists and shoulders etc etc) are more accurate than the forecast. On the not-bright side, ow. And the rain's not been worth the pain, by the way. We get like ten minute bursts of rain and thunder and then nothing. It's enough to make it muggy and humid outside but not enough to cool anything off or actually help with general dryness.
Bleh.
It's been a really good weekend, despite the pain. I'm still getting used to Fridays being not-Panoptikon. We had friends over for a "game night" (I swear the plan was to play games... turned out the only game we played was "drink while listening to the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack and try to guess which song was playing during which scene") so at least we've got some socialization going on. It was a good night, even though I spent a lot of it feeling standoffish and not-fun (pain was a bit draining)... I went to bed relatively early while the party continued. It seems everyone had a really good time and they were very understanding of my body failing me so early.
Saturday I was up relatively early. Had a waxing appointment that we wanted to leave early for because it's tax-free weekend and the traffic towards the waxing place is NORMALLY annoying so I figured it'd be even worse. Nope! Almost no problems. Luckily a place nearby has brunch so we loaded up on tasty food and tequila before getting our hair violently ripped out.
Will, meanwhile, went to test-drive some cars. He found one he liked well enough but wants to try it again when I'm there so I can approve. He made sure to check trunk space and everything to make sure my cripple things (scooter and wheelchair both) could comfortably fit. Always important. :)
At the party Friday it was brought up that one friend had not seen Guardians of the Galaxy, so Saturday night we all went to see it. It was my third time seeing it. I was tired throughout the film but still adored it all over again (and spotting easter eggs becomes easier each time)... after the movie there was an afterparty but I was exhausted and still aching from the rain so I stayed home and crashed early (well, relatively so - it was still after midnight)
Today I woke up before everyone else in the house and took advantage of the quiet to enjoy coffee, music, and work. Took a painkiller and was able to finish the comic without any pain getting in the way.
Now we're all in the livingroom watching TV and relaxing.
Yeah. Decent weekend.
Goals this week include organizing the office and maybe taking on a couple of commissions. Nothing too big, I'm still behind on some others and don't want to overwhelm myself. Eventually I need to buy a whiteboard for the office to keep track of projects in a physical tangible way - it just works better for me than just a spreadsheet or something on the computer. Hell eventually I'd like a much bigger desk too, but the tiny one from Ikea hasn't fallen apart yet so that's not a priority right now.
So far my goal of "keep busy in August to distract my brain" seems to be going well.
Bleh.
